3. TARN REGION La Maison des TournesolsTarn region - Tarn cottage - Tarn village
The cottage at Ambres
One end of the roomy living room at this cottage
showing the front doors -
leading straight in from the street - 2 comfortable couches and 2 rocking
chairs
and a dining setting for six people.
The other end of the living room showing through
to the kitchen terrace and garden
with stairs leading upstairs to the three bedrooms and the bathroom.
This is a very old cottage so the walls with exposed beams and posts are
a little atmospherically off square.
The kitchen with double bowl sink, pantry, fridge, new gas stove and washing machine -

-
leads out through french glass doors to a sunny newly paved terra-cotta tiled
terrace
with an excellent barbecue and outdoor table and chairs - then on to our pretty
small garden.
Looking back from the
garden towards the house and the terrace with double doors
leading inside to the kitchen and living / dining room.
Also upstairs are the two other bedrooms and the bathroom.![]()

Looking out the main
bedroom window towards the front.
In summer the bright yellow sunflowers surrounding this village in all directions
are just beautiful - the other main crops are fruit and maize.
The living room showing
the enormous fireplace in original handmade bricks.
There is a desk, a TV, radio and CD player as well as a DVD player and a
good selection
of music, films and books to read.
Our cottage - middle
right - we are very pleased that we have finally had the Maçons
in to
restore the facade back to the original stones and ancient handmade bricks.
Our cottage during the process of having all
the outside rendering removed from its
facade to expose the lovely c.16C so hand made bricks and stone which were
hiding underneath -
- a truly alarming process
covering everything inside and outside in fine brick dust
- but an enormous improvement we think.
