The cottage at Russan (Ste-Anastasie)

As you enter this cheery
little cottage - which is really more like an appartment - you are in the
living /dining
area with spiral stairs leading up to the mezzanine above - the bathroom
to the right and the main bedroom straight ahead.
Up the stone outside steps and through the small gate is the front terrace.![]()

The living area looking the other way towards the kitchen and terrace.

The kitchen here is small
but well equipped with a double-bowl sink, cook-top and small
oven below - fridge and microwave oven - excellent saucepans, cooking pots
and utensils.
It is not a family
sized kitchen, but we have cooked and served many excellent dinners for friends
here.
Left - looking
across the pine table and chairs to the spiral stairs
- note that
these stairs are are
not really suitable for very young children or elderly people.
Right - looking through the triple glass doors to the terrace.

Up the stairs is a mezzanine area with a couch, coffee table and chairs looking out over![]()
A door leads off the mezzanine into the loft bedroom with two single beds.![]()

The cottage at Russan (Ste-Anastasie)
The cottage is on three levels with
two entrances from the small impasse - the main entry up
outside stairs
to the
front terrace on the middle level -
the other into the ground floor. Inside all three floors are
connected by
a spiral staircase.
The cottage is in the most attractive pale stone of Provence, with shutters,
doors and
windows in soft
grey-blue, an approved colour in this region.
Because of the spiral
staircase, we feel that this house is not suitable for the very young
or the elderly - and - as this is our smallest cottage, we restrict the number
of people here to four.
Double glazing
and electric fans. Wall mounted electric heating. Electric hot water service.
Parking outside the cottage or 100 metres away down near to the Mairie.
Outside
steps lead up to the front terrace with outdoor furniture and a café
type sun awning
which rolls out to cover the whole terrace, making this a great place for
meals outside.
Triple glass doors open into the living room with stone walls, wooden ceilings
and floors of terra-cotta tiles
plus TV, DVD player
and CD player - lots of books, films and music.
The small kitchen has a fridge, microwave, double bowl sink, gas/electric
cook-top with small oven below.
Carpeted bedroom with double bed. Bathroom with shower, basin and WC.
The spiral stairs lead down to a
darkish room with a double bed which is mainly used just for our family
- then
a passage leading to the street
door . A laundry with washing machine & dryer is off this passage.
The ground floor does not get too much natural light as the windows are very
small
so we do not include this floor as a sleeping area for rental.
Upper floor
From the living room the spiral
staircase leads up to a mezzanine area with low table, couch and 2 chairs.
The 2nd bedroom comes off the mezzanine and has 2 single beds.
Please note that the ceiling of the mezzanine and 2nd bedroom slope down to
very low
at one end and may not be suitable for extremely tall people - however the
other end is normal height.
This house will take 4 people - however
it must be noted that
this is by far our smallest cottage - and it is possibly more suitable for
2 people.
