 The cottage at Berbiguières


 

The roomy and sunny living / dining room of our house - with stone and white rendered walls
colourful rugs on oak floors, TV, DVD player, Cd player, books and tourist information.

- a typical simple Périgord stone cottage of the region - looking down our pretty little road.

The village of Berbiguières is situated in a delightful country setting with
our house in the horse-shoe of ancient cottages clustered around the Chateau.
There is the small high walkway running beside the Chateau walls -
and many cobbled lanes with steps connecting down to the lower road beside the fields.
Our cottage is on the small lower road - see top of photo about 3 houses from left.

Left - after passing several cottages you arrive at Carrieron de la Domaisèla -
and our front door is seen on the left up this small cobbled lane.
Right - the small terrace just outside our kitchen door which is owned by the commune.

The two top windows are in the living room and the lower window is the main bedroom.
There is a one public car parking space right beside our house - first in gets the space.

Entering the front door you arrive straight into the large living area with two windows
- one looking out over the fields and a side window looking down over the village.
Open shelves divide off the kitchen.
The excellent kitchen with plenty of benches, gas /electric stove, fridge and microwave oven.
A door leads through to the WC - and then out to a small outdoor area which is
owned by the commune of Berbiguières. We have chairs to bring outside.
The living room looking back the other way - showing the front door leading into the cobbled lane. 
Stairs go up to the loft bedroom with two single beds - and down to a small hall
leading the main bedroom and the bathroom. The WC is on the middle level.
Downstairs is the the roomy, pine-lined main bedroom with a window looking out over the fields.
There is also a Lit-enfant - a child's bed with sides - suitable for a child up to 3YO.
The bathroom at this cottage is also on the ground floor
right next to the bedroom and has a shower, basin, bidet, heated towel rail
and also a laundry section with washing machine and dryer.

The cottage at Berbiguieres
La Maison du Château is a pretty stone cottage on three levels, with all windows looking out 
over beautiful rural views. The entrance is on the middle floor into the living room.
 
Middle level
Spacious main living-dining room 27 x 15 ft.with walls in white rendering or natural stone,
and oak floors with bright rugs. The kitchen is separated by a half-height wall and 
has built in cupboards and benches, refrigerator and gas / electric stove and a microwave. 
A separate WC is on this floor. 
A door from the kitchen gives access to a communal village terrace for sitting out.
 
Ground level
Stairs go down to the main bedroom - double bed and large cot, also a bathroom / laundry 
which has a shower, basin, bidet, washing machine, dryer and iron. 
 
Loft  level
The staircase  goes up to the loft bedroom with two single beds.
Slow combustion wood fire heater. Cut wood supplied. Extra gas and electric heaters.  
Electric storage HWS.  Telephone
Two public car spaces next to the house on a first in basis.
Sleeps 4 people plus large cot for up to 3 YO.
